Thieves stole four distress flares and fishing nets during a burglary on Pakefield beach.
Officers are appealing for witnesses following the two burglaries – which took place at about 10pm on Tuesday, June 28 – close to Grand Avenue.
A police spokesman said: 'In the first burglary suspect/s forced entry into a shed and removed a metal box which contained four sea distress flares.
'Suspect/s then broke into a nearby shed and stole three fishing nets.
'Using one of the flares the offender/s then set the fishing nets alight outside before running off.'
The fire service attended and extinguished the fire – nobody was injured.
The remaining flares were recovered the next day.
Anyone with information should call Suffolk Police on 101 reference 37/41685/16.
