A new booklet detailing Brandon’s First World War history is being released free to the public.
Brandon’s Armistice Centenary booklet will be available from Brandon Heritage Centre from Saturday.
The 16 page A4 colour booklet includes information about those who fought in the Great War and what took place in the town between 1914 and 1918.
Funded by a £1,000 from Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme, the booklet has been researched and created by local researcher Darren Norton, and 2,000 copies have been printed.
On Saturday at the heritage centre a poppy painting session will be taking place.
Locals are invited to paint a clay poppy, each with the name of the 65 Brandon men killed in the War.
The poppies will be installed as a piece of art at the cemetery gates in November.
The heritage centre is open from 10am until 4pm.
