FIREFIGHTERS spent more than 40 minutes tackling a blaze in a fryer at the Birds Eye food factory in Lowestoft.
Crews from south Lowestoft and north Lowestoft fire stations were sent to the factory on Whapload Road after an automatic fire alarm sounded at 5.09am this morning (Monday).
A brigade spokesman said: 'Crews found a fire in one of the fryers and requested an additional fire engine - a further appliance was therefore mobilised from north Lowestoft.
'At 5.50am this fire was extinguished and a foam blanket was applied over the fryer.'
