Firefighters save pigeon trapped in Swaffham tree

A crew of firefighters rescued a pigeon left hanging from a tree after they received several calls from concerned members of the public and a local animal sanctuary.

The bird was hanging from a piece of string around its leg and a branch about 8m above the ground in Spinners Close, off Spinners Lane in Swaffham, yesterday afternoon, Wednesday April 25.

A fire service spokesman said the operation took about 10 minutes in total, and neither the officer or the crew involved used their blue lights and sirens, and remained on call throughout.
