Fire crews spent two hours rescuing a horse in north Norfolk.
The animal had fallen into a muddy ditch, on farmland at Dilham, between North Walsham and Stalham.
Jim Palmer, station manager at Great Yarmouth, said it had been up to its chest and unable to get out.
Crews from Yarmouth, Stalham and Martham stabilised the animal until the animal rescue team from Carrow arrived.
Strops were placed around the horse and it was lifted free.
Mr Palmer said fire crews had left the animal in the care of vets and he was not sure of its condition.
