Firefighters rescue cow from river near Norwich

Firefighters have helped rescue a cow from the river in Norfolk.
Appliances from Earlham and Carrow were called to reports of an animal in the river at Eaton at just after noon on Saturday (September 29).
The crews who attended the incident assisted the farmer in releasing the cow using animal rescue kit and farm machinery.
Figures released by the Home Office earlier this year showed that between April 2017 and March 2018 firefighters in the county were called out 139 times to help rescue animals.
The figures also revealed that over the same 12 month period firefighters in Norfolk were called out a total of 65 times to remove objects from people.
Statistics also showed firefighters were called out 124 times in cases of flooding and 52 times to rescue people from water while there were also 85 false alarms with good intentions and two malicious false alarms in the same period.
