Crews were first called to the plant at Saddlebow at about 2.10pm on Friday.

At its height, about 80 firefighters tackled the blaze, and crews remained at the plant over the weekend, damping down and dealing with a number of flare-ups.

The building was evacuated and one person was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, suffering from smoke inhalation.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.

A spokesman for the fire service said today that no appliances or firefighters remained at the scene.

Palm Paper is expected to release a statement later this week.
