Firefighters called out to deal with chemical leak at Birds Eye factory in Lowestoft

Firefighters were called out to deal with a chemical leak at the Birds Eye factory in Lowestoft in the early hours of this morning.
The incident at the Whapload Road factory started at about 4am and Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service sent nine vehicles to the scene.
It is understood ammonia used in the refrigerator process at the factory had leaked, and that the situation was under control by just after 5am.
Fire crews from Lowestoft South, Woodbridge, Holbrook, Leiston and Saxmundham attended the incident.
