The fire service is this morning returning to the scene of a large gorse fire that happened at a beach near King's Lynn yesterday.

A fire officer will return to check the area at Snettisham Scalp where about 50 officers were called to put out a fire that engulfed a grass bank of about 500 by 100 metres in size.

The incident started yesterday afternoon at about 4.30pm and fire crews from Sandringham, Heacham, two from Kings Lynn North, Kings Lynn South, Massingham, and Wells were sent to the scene along with a control unit, welfare team, and the drone unit from Wymondham.

Firefighters remained at the incident until about midnight.

Coastguard teams from Wells and Hunstanton also supported the fire service.

Currently the cause of the fire is unknown.
