Officers are investigating the cause of a fire which caused 'extensive damage' to the top floor of a house in Norwich.

Two crews from Carrow and Earlham fire stations were called to a property on Luke Close at 5.07pm this afternoon.

The fire had broken out in an airing cupboard but had spread to other parts of the house, according to Earlham Fire Station watch manager Rob Burling.

The crews put out the fire within around 15 minutes using hose reels and wearing breathing apparatus.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was also used to disperse smoke.

'We would like to remind people to keep doors shut to stop potential fires from spreading,' Mr Burling said.

He said officers were at the scene investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to be accidental.

The occupants of the house were not at the premises, but they have been informed of the fire.
