Fire on Mousehold Heath put out after an hour

Fire fighters took more than an hour to put out a fire on Mousehold Heath this evening.

Fire engines from Sprowston and Earlham, as well as a water carrier from Hethersett were called to put the heath fire out at 6.44pm today.

12 fire fighters arrived at the scene at 6.55pm and left at 7.49pm.

The popular beauty spot and dog-walking location has had several fire during the dry spell, the largest incident of which took almost four hours to bring under control after witnesses reported seeing “a big ball of smoke”.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service has asked members of the public to be especially careful at this time with items such as barbecues and cigarettes.
