A horse had to be rescued from a pond on Yaxham Road, in Dereham yesterday.

The fire service was called out to help the animal at 12.20pm on Tuesday, July 18, and were on the scene for three hours in order to get the horse back on dry land.

A Norfolk urban search and rescue (USAR) team from Dereham attended the scene along with a fire crew from Watton.

They released the horse from the pond using specialist animal rescue equipment and a vet was on scene to provide medical support.

The fire service could not confirm whether the horse had suffered any injuries.
