History buffs can learn more about an archaeological dig at Erpingham, near Aylsham, at an open day at the village hall.

Sir Thomas Erpingham, of Agincourt fame, was born in the village, and a series of events were held in 2015 to celebrate his life, and commemorate the 600th anniversary of the battle.

Among the events was a community excavation held at the site of Sir Thomas’ manor house, in the field next to the village hall.

The dig was a very popular event and a group of people later got together to form the Sir Thomas Erpingham Manor Trust.

The main aims of the trust are to raise funds to buy the land on which the house sits, and to run an educational programme.

The event on Easter Saturday, from 2-5pm, will also feature re-enactment displays, finds from the 2015 excavation, and children from a local primary school will also be digging a small test trench.
