And now the community of Filby is gearing itself up for hopefully more in bloom success after a tour of the village by judges who certainly know their way around plants and flowers.

On Thursday the Filby in Bloom group showed off its merits to Anglia in Bloom judges David White and Nolan Mills who inspected a wide range of displays put forward for the best village section for a population under 1,000.

For the campaign 16,100 bedding plants have been planted and 120 hanging baskets have been put up.

As part of the tour the judges also visited Filby Primary School and were impressed by their cultivating efforts.
