A Norwich father-of-two is running the London Marathon to raise funds for Asthma UK.

Nick Richards, 43, has been an asthmatic since the age of 11 and wants to raise money and awareness for the condition which affects more than five million people in the UK.

Mr Richards, who lives in Thorpe Hamlet, said: 'I've only had one bad asthma attack when I was 11 and it wasn't pretty.

'I've carried an inhaler with me for the last 32 years so this is my chance to raise funds for all those whose lives are impacted by having asthma. I want to run the London Marathon to show that asthmatics can still live an active life and achieve their own sporting goals.'

Mr Richards, who is a run director at Brundall parkrun, has completed 216 parkruns and taken part in more than 50 running events including two previous marathons.

He is hoping to complete the 26.2mile course in less than four hours.
