A father-of-two, who was inspired to go into business on his own following the coronavirus pandemic, has opened his first branch in mid Norfolk.

Ross Ratcliffe is the owner of Norfolk Wills and Estate Planning and opened an office in Dereham’s town centre on August 1.

The 36-year-old, of Mattishall, has worked in the financial sector for almost two decades but, after taking a short break, he decided it was time to venture out on his own.

Mr Ratcliffe said: “After the lockdown announcement, I gave myself a month off and then decided to make the leap.

“I’ve always worked for other people but I decided in May that I was going to go for it on my own.”

A space was created for the office by the team at New Revolution Health and Fitness Club team, based on Nunn’s Way, off Nelson Place.

Mr Ratcliffe described his “passion” for helping others and said he was excited about beginning his venture by starting a family business. He also hoped that he would be able to expand the business and open more branches in the near future.

He added: “I’ve seen grown men cry their eyes out because they have not prepared for the future.

“I have a passion for helping people and making sure everything is order for them. Even the opening date, August 1, coincided with the date that many people would be able to come out of shielding - and come into the office if they wanted to discuss any preparations.”

Mr Ratcliffe also has plans to launch an apprenticeship scheme and will be looking to recruit people to be part of it.

“Part of what I am doing is educating people and talking to people about things they may not be aware of when planning for the future.

“I want to be informative for people and make it easier for families and individuals to discuss these topics.”
