After years of donating to a cancer charity, a former RAF serviceman went one step further by shaving his head in its aid.

Tony Bridges from Swaffham went under the razor for Macmillan Cancer Support's Brave the Shave campaign.

The 47-year-old's job as a patient transport driver for West Suffolk Hospital brings him into daily contact with cancer sufferers.

He has been donating to Macmillan for many years after losing his grandfather to the disease, but had never actively engaged in fundraising.

He braved the shave with this son Luke, who was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease several years ago.

Mr Bridges said: 'It was after my son's diagnosis and all the support from the doctors and nurses that I wanted to start giving something back.

'This year, after working closely with cancer patients and seeing the Brave the Shave posters, I decided to sign up, and Luke decided to join me.'

They had their heads shaved at the Town Barbers in Swaffham, where Mr Bridges has been a patron for more than 17 years.

He said: 'I know after years of cutting my hair this was the easiest cut they have undertaken for me.'
