A heating engineer from Fakenham is in the running to win a brand new pick up truck if he can prove he is Britain's best tradesperson.
Wayne Campebll, 42, from Fakenham is a regional finalist in Screwfix’s annual search to reward the best builders, plumbers, electricians and engineers in the country.
Championing the heating and plumbing industry, Mr Campbell has seen off competition from tradesmen and women across the region and will attend a regional final this week going head-to-head against four others.
The winners of the regional finals will then compete in a national final, to win the prestigious title and a brand new Mitsubishi L200 Warrior pick-up truck for their business, worth over £30,000.
Currently trading under the name WCBS Limited, Mr Campbell thinks his determination, passion and attitude will help him stand out from the crowd. He said: “I’m over the moon to be a regional finalist, it’s such a great competition and to get this far is fantastic. It’s incredibly rewarding to be recognised for the hard work that I put in, and I’m determined to show my dedication to the trade and my customers.”
Mr Campbell has 15 years of experience and attributes his skills to being given a good mentor at a young age.
He is now helping to teach the next generation of Norfolk’s heating engineers, after training four young plumbers.
Caroline Welsh, director of brand and marketing at Screwfix said: “The standard of entries for Britain’s Top Tradesperson this year has been outstanding. This award is given to those who demonstrate that they go above and beyond in their trade. It’s for tradespeople who show excellence in how they are adapting to change in the industry, have a positive impact on their community and invest in the future of the trade, showing true professionalism in every job they complete. Being selected as a regional finalist means that we see these qualities in Wayne.”
Mr Campbell will take part in the Eastern heat at Thetford’s Screwfix store. The results of all the regional heats will be announced once the final one has take place at the end of June.
