Fakenham couple killed in crash on M11

An elderly couple from Fakenham are believed to have died in a car accident on the M11.Essex Police believe that their 39-year-old son, from Surrey, was driving the car in which they were travelling when it left the southbound carriageway at Ugley, in Essex, about seven miles before the Stansted Airport junction.

Essex Police believe that their 39-year-old son, from Surrey, was driving the car in which they were travelling when it left the southbound carriageway at Ugley, in Essex, about seven miles before the Stansted Airport junction.

The red Peugeot 406 flipped over after crashing into trees and shrubs at the side of the road just after 7pm on Friday .

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “An elderly couple in their 70s were trapped in the vehicle following the crash. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital, in Harlow, where she died shortly after arrival.

“The couple are understood to have come from Fakenham, in Norfolk. The elderly couple who have died are believed to be the parents of the driver who was detained in hospital with severe shock and other injuries which are described as not life-threatening.”
