A man pretending to be a policeman was turned away from a house in Loddon this afternoon.
He called at the house in Homebred Lane at 1:30pm, claiming he was a police officer investigating car crime in the area. He asked if he could go into the property and look through the front window for a few minutes. The owner of the property refused and the man left. No vehicles were seen in the area at the time.
The man was described as in his 40s, wearing a grey top and combat trousers. He showed some form of ID, but the owner did not get to see it clearly. Police advise that you should double-check the identity of any cold callers. Genuine police officers, whether in plain clothes or in uniform, will always be willing to show formal identification.
