A special event on Saturday will celebrate the life of murdered MP Jo Cox, who was shot and stabbed to death on the streets of her Yorkshire constituency a year ago.

People will gather in The Walks at King's Lynn on Saturday, June 17 (12-noon), to share a picnic.

Labour parliamentary candidate Jo Rust, who organised the event with Daphne Sampson, said: 'The event in memory of Jo Cox will bring together neighbours in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. Jo Cox said we have far more in common than that which divides us and we want to show the different parts of our community that this is true.'

Events will be taking place across the country in memory of Mrs Cox, 41. She was attacked in Birstall in her Batley and Spen constituency, where she was about to hold a surgery, on June 16, 2016. Thomas Mair was found guilty of her murder and jailed for life.
