Supermarket worker Vicki Williamson was able to catch the escaped bird in the foyer of the shop on December 8.

She said: 'The budgie has apparently been at Morrisons for a while, but once I saw it, I had to catch it, as it would have died.

'I took the budgie to The Grove Vets, in Dereham, as the poor thing was in shock and very cold.

'They couldn't keep it overnight, but gave it water and checked it out.

'I have taken the budgie to PACT animal sanctuary in Shipdham, and they are going to look after it.'

Mrs Williamson, who is from Dereham, said she would love to reunite the bird with its owner.
