It wasn't a jelly fish, sea anenome - or even Dougal from the Magic Roundabout meeting with a watery end.

Mark Evans, who regularly visits north Norfolk from his home in Leicestershire, saw two of the 'creatures' whilst out walking his dog on Holkham Beach.

'It appeared to be some sort of jellyfish at first sight,' he said. 'I saw it while I was walking my dog, there were two of them.

'As you can imagine, there are lots of things you see washed up on the seashore. I go to Holkham quite a lot but I've never seen anything like it.'

We've passed the image on to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust to get an expert opinion.

And they responded: 'Rob Spray our marine expert has replied it's squid eggs and they are normally laid stuck to underwater features but these have come loose. They are very cute as they get ready to hatch but these ones have had it.'
