North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) has backed a county-wide effort to encourage Norfolk residents to recycle.

Recycle Week will take place from Monday, September 24, to Sunday, September 30, and highlight the many ways people are recycling in North Norfolk and across the county.

Norwich Castle will be lit up green, joining other iconic buildings across the UK, to remind people of the importance of recycling.

Figures show Norfolk residents recycle 47pc of their household waste through their home recycling bins.

Cllr John Fisher, chairman of the Norfolk Waste Partnership, said: “More and more people in Norfolk are recycling and that is something we’re celebrating this Recycle Week.

“Just please remember to give your recycling a rinse, and put it loose into the bin.”

NNDC recently launched the #whatSUP campaign to encourage ending the use of single-use plastics.
