Fears that a washed up fuel tank could cause 'potential pollution' on a popular beach were quickly allayed.
Concerned locals informed Waveney District Council that a fuel tank had washed up on the beach at Corton last Wednesday, February 20.
Shortly after it had been reported, the incident was being investigated by Waveney Norse and the fuel tank was 'safely removed.'
In a post on the East Suffolk Council Facebook and Twitter pages, a council spokesman said: 'Fearing potential pollution, our partners Waveney Norse immediately investigated and within three hours of the 1.5m long tank being reported, it was safely removed from the beach using a tractor.'
