A number of nest boxes will be installed at north Norfolk nature reserve Sustead Common on Saturday, February 17, and members of the public are invited to attend.
Conservation charity, the Felbeck Trust, is taking part in British Trust for Ornithology’s (BTO) annual week-long nest box campaign.
It aims to encourage everyone to put up boxes in their environment to promote and enhance biodiversity and conservation of breeding birds and wildlife.
Volunteers from the trust will also be learning about how natural nest sites for birds, such as holes in trees or old buildings, are disappearing fast.
The trust hopes people will sponsor a nest box for £20 to help raise funds to buy an area of woodland at the reserve, which has a mixture of ancient oak, hazel coppice and more recent plantings of native English trees. The event will be open to the public from 10am to 3pm.
