Archant

An overwhelming amount of people have shown their support towards Nadia Sparkes, a 12-year-old litter-picker who ignored school bullies.

On January 17 we reported on how Nadia Sparkes has been collecting rubbish to and from her route to school each day. She has had to over-come cruel remarks labelling her ‘trash girl’, a nickname she has since decided to own.

When we published Nadia’s story she received an overwhelming of comments through Facebook, Twitter and on our news websites.

Police officers, environmental activists and even local councillors have shown their thanks and support for Nadia’s litter-picking efforts.

Other well-wishers have sent heart-warming messages to Nadia, encouraging her to ignore the bullies and continue with her actions.
