BBC’s Countryfile has been finding out what makes the Brecks so unique.
In this week’s show presenter Ellie Harrison has been looking at the ambitious conservation project called Back from Brink and learning about the Breckland rabbit and its importance to the local ecology.
She meets up with rabbit expert Dr Diana Bell and helps with a rather unusual health check on a male rabbit, Ellie’s done a lot of different things on Countryfile, but never anything quite like this.
Matt Baker catches up with Abrey cousins Giles and Tom to understand how the soil in the Brecklands enables them to grow vegetables all year round. He also sees the conservation projects they’re carrying out on the farm. He also sees how this special soil is excellent for livestock as well as veg.
Margherita Taylor gets a water colour master class from landscape artist Jonathan Yule who explains how the Breckland’s landscape keeps drawing him back.
And Adam Henson has an unusual but heart-warming story about alpacas and ends up in a lift with two of them.
Countryfile is on BBC1 on Sunday, December 10 at 6.15pm.
