A former domestic servant who worked for notable Norfolk farming and brewing families has celebrated her 105th birthday.

Ena Clarke, n�e Monument, was born in Loddon on May 9, 1907, and was one of six children. She moved to Dereham with her parents Florence and Jack, who was killed in the first world war, and studied at Dereham Church School and Dereham High School. Her mother worked as a domestic servant and Ena worked with her for families including the Youngs, Crawshays and Bullards.

She married Stanley Clarke in 1937 at Dereham – he died in 1987 – and the couple had one son, Robin.

Mrs Clarke is a resident at Lincoln House Care Home, Swanton Morley.
