An Emmy award-winning film maker whose work has enabled him to travel the world is opening a state of the art studio in south Norfolk.

Jonathan Jones and his wife Emma started Ember films in Hackford Business Centre, near Hingham, three years ago.

And now the couple is opening a studio with ambitions to produce more top-quality work in Norfolk.

Mr Jones, who lives in Carbrooke, near Watton, said: 'There is a stigma attached to Norfolk about it being slow and our business can't thrive if it's like that. We own the same camera that The Hobbit was filmed on.

'We want to do more work locally and we want to shout about what we do.

'We do end-to-end but we are media partners with lots of companies and agencies.'

He aims to set up a forum for creative people in the area where they can share resources and ideas.

'My vision is to grow it as a complex. We have got a clear focus and vision to maximise work in the county. A lot of big companies are going out of the county to do their work and it's the mould we are going to break.

'We have put quite a bit of money into the studio so if somebody from London came here, they would feel at home,' the 30-year-old added.

Their work focuses on visual effects and super slow motion, some of which is filmed on custom-built camera lenses.

Mr Jones travelled to America and Costa Rica to capture stunning footage of Monarch Butterflies and jungle ants for the National Geographic Channel's Great Migrations. In 2011 he was awarded an Emmy for his part in shooting the wildlife series.

And now the father-of-two is preparing to showcase his latest work: Hidden Kingdoms will be shown tonight on BBC One at 8pm.

Narrated by Stephen Fry, the series is co-written by Pixar and was filmed in Africa, Canada, Borneo, America and the UK. It consists of three one-hour programmes and one 40-minute 3D special.

'It was filmed with a custom lense which I had engineered,' Mr Jones said. 'We are high speed specialists.'

The series focuses on some of the smallest but most powerful creatures in the world.

Ember films consists of eight people including Mrs Jones, 33, who works in the business as the office manager and takes care of their children Amelia, three, and Toby, 20 months.
