A busy road linking Diss and Thetford is currently blocked after what a 999 caller described as 'a massive tree' fell.
Three quarters of the A1066 near Shadwell, around three miles from Thetford, was blocked after the tree fell at around 1pm.
A Norfolk Police spokesman said the only description they had of the tree came from a 999 caller, who said that was that it was 'massive'.
The police spokesman said a significant amount of debris was also on the road.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene, only to be stood down, with Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service also involved.
Staff from Shadwell Estate cleared the tree from the road, which officers said was around 40ft tall and had fallen from within the bounds of the estate.
