Electricity supplies have been restored for dozens of homeowners in a north Norfolk coastal village after a power cut yesterday.

The failure in Bacton was caused by a fault in an underground cable, which first affected the village just after noon.

It was fixed in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

A UK Power Networks spokesman said: 'Supply was interrupted to 1,347 customers at 12.47pm but 1,063 had power restored within four minutes. All but 43 of the rest were back on supply by 2.54pm. The remaining customers had electricity restored at 12.09am today.

'We realise how difficult it can be to be without power and apologise for any inconvenience caused.'
