Firefighters cut three people from a car following a smash on the A142 near Soham on Boxing Day.
Crews from Ely and Newmarket were called to the three-vehicle collision, on the Soham bypass, near to the old garden centre, at about 12.45pm.
Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to remove a roof, two rear doors, rear seats and a tailgate to release three casualties from the car.
In total, eight people were treated by East of England Ambulance crews, with four taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, in Cambridge.
The casualties were all suffering with neck and back injuries, though the ambulance service said they were all in a stable condition when they arrived at hospital.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service watch commander, Jon Wade, said: 'This was a slow-time extrication which was done in a sensitive manner to minimise the distress to the family members trapped with back, neck and leg injuries.
'All the emergency services worked extremely well together to deliver a safe and efficient outcome.'
