A symbolic phoenix is helping to relaunch a special educational needs department promoting the ideals of transformation and renewal.

Great Yarmouth High School is using the image to build self-esteem and prepare students for the future.

A drop-in for parents was held to celebrate the change at the SEND department, now called the Phoenix Hub following a vote in school.

A spokesman for the school said it was a highly successful afternoon where parents were informed about how the school can support their child's needs, adding: 'We recognise that every child is different and that every child needs different support to enable them to meet their potential.'

Advice and guidance was also given to parents about the strategies they can implement to help with numeracy, literacy, and communication skills. The school says it is also keen to develop the bonds it already has with external agencies.
