Creative youngsters have been making some special games for visitors to enjoy at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts' family fun day this weekend.

The annual free event – this year with the theme World Art Game Day – is on Sunday and is inspired by art in the gallery's collections and cultures from across the globe. Among the youngsters who have made games for the event are 12 pupils aged eight to 11 from West Earlham Junior School.

Matthew Burroughs, teaching assistant at the school, said: 'We had a look around the Sainsbury Centre's exhibitions and the children thought of some games they could make connected with the exhibitions.

'The children designed a game with three giant heads filled with spaghetti, beans, and flour, and people have 30 seconds to put their hands in the heads and find eyeballs hidden there. The children had lots of fun making the games.'

Children from Earlham Early Years Centre have also designed games for the day. The World Art Game Day is at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts on Sunday from noon until 4pm. Admission is free but there will be a charge for some activities.
