Alderman Peel High School hosted their second Annual Academic Celebration of Success evening last month, with students from years 7 to 11 receiving recognition for their successes.

The event took place at the Lady Elizabeth Wing at Holkham Hall and included guest of honour Alex Staniforth.

Mr Staniforth, 21, is an endurance adventurer, motivational speaker and author who survived an avalanche on Mount Everest after a devastating earthquake hit Nepal in 2015.

The adventurer presented awards and gave the students a first-hand account of his survival on the mountain.

Bal Tawana, assistant head teacher, said the event motivates students to 'strive to achieve the best they can' with the knowledge that there could be special recognition for efforts.
