Most students might be expected to be found at the bar to celebrate finishing their exams.

But five University of East Anglia (UEA) students are instead heading on a trip of a lifetime to Mongolia to help raise money for the mental health charity Mind.

From June 11 - as soon as they finish their exams, Will Vickers, Luke Phillips, Luke Dexter, Josh Melling and Edd Nabbs will be travelling 9,000 miles and will cross 13 countries in Europe, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan before reaching Mongolia..

Mr Vickers said: 'The drive will take us five weeks and we want people who've sponsored us to feel part of the trip so, by giving £30 or more, donors can set us a challenge to complete during our journey.'

As well as the chance to set a challenge, anyone giving £10 or more will get their name written on the bonnet of one of the cars.

Mr Vickers added: 'We aim to raise at least £2,000 for Mind because, as a group of young males at university, we appreciate the effect that the pressures and stresses of life can have.'

'We believe that if we do our part to raise awareness and try to reduce the stigma that can be associated with mental health, we will be helping to provide vital support to those who need it most.

'I'm looking forward to having the freedom to explore some of the most deserted places on the globe, especially as we'll be travelling off the beaten track for much of the way. Our biggest challenge will probably be carrying out repairs to our vehicles with very few resources and little knowledge. Their combined value is £600 so they're a little rusty and worse for wear in places and will definitely take a beating as we travel through remote areas
