Representatives from more than 20 Norfolk businesses and organisations were on hand to chat to students, at a careers fair held at Sheringham High School.
The event, which was organised for the fifth year running by the school's careers and personal advisor Natasha Drury and deputy head teacher Jayne Melhuish, included stands run by Easton and Otley College, the University of East Anglia, Kinnertons Chocolate, North Norfolk District Council, Norfolk Police, Victory Housing Trust and Sheringham's Splash Leisure and fitness centre.
Students had a chance to meet business owners and staff, and pick up tips on applying for jobs and courses.
'It is a way of introducing young people to the world of work,' Mrs Melhuish said. 'It also helps them learn about decision-making and gives them a chance to find out about the different roles and opportunities on offer within different organisations.'
Fourteen-year-old Kayleigh McLeod, who, since becoming a St John Ambulance volunteer, has attended events including the Royal Norfolk Show, a charity cycle ride and Felbrigg Chilli Festival, has set her heart on a career in nursing.
She said: 'Coming to the careers fair has given me lots of ideas and helped me realise that there are lots of different ways of getting into your chosen career.'
