The new headteacher of Stalham High School is "extremely proud" of the achievement of its GCSE pupils this year.

Some 50pc of its students achieved five or more A*-C grades including English and maths, compared to 52pc last year.

The number of pupils gaining five or more A*-C grades in all subjects was 58.5pc. Last year’s results in this area are unavailable.

Ms Webb said: “The vast majority are in a confident position to move into their chosen post-16 education.”

She added: “A significant number of students were extremely close to the C grade boundary and we hope that successful appeals will see these figures increase. As a new head, it was important for me to stabilise the school. We have achieved this and are looking forward to significant improvement over the coming years.”
