A Norfolk junior school has been removed from special measures two years after becoming an academy, while its sister school has achieved another 'good' Ofsted.

Cliff Park Junior School in Gorleston-on-Sea was put into special measures by Ofsted in 2013, before it joined the Cliff Park Schools Trust Ltd.

Inspectors, who returned in February, have now praised it for a number of 'rapidly rising' standards amid a close working relationship with the neighbouring Cliff Park Infant School.

Both schools are overseen by the trust's chief executive officer Sue Mitchell.

The infant school was visited by Ofsted inspectors last month and for the second year running has been rated Good.

The report said: 'Senior leaders are working closely with the academy junior school to providea 'seamless learning journey' for pupils. This collaboration has provided good opportunities for the sharing of good practice as well providing professional development for staff who talk about the value of 'having a bigger picture'.'

Mrs Mitchell said that close working relationship was not only better for pupils, but staff and parents too.

Cliff Part Junior School has now been rated as Requires Improvement, and Good for pupil behaviour.

'We're really pleased the report recognises the school has been on a journey and what it's ambitions are. There's still work to do, there always is, but this is a stamp of approval that we are moving in the right direction.'
