Two Norfolk groups have been awarded a combined total of £1,850 from house builder Persimmon to help improve outdoor facilities.

The national firm has given Aylsham Recreation Ground £1,000 as part of its community champions scheme towards a storage building for sports equipment.

Caister Junior School has received £850 towards a creating a forest/beach school – an outdoor teaching space that will enable children to explore their environment and learn about the world around them.

Andrew Fuller, managing director at Persimmon Homes Anglia, said: 'Local schools and sports facilities are important to the health, prosperity and wellbeing of our communities, so we are thrilled to support these two worthy causes.'

Aylsham Recreation Ground is a registered charity which hosts cricket, football, tennis, bowls and petanque clubs, and has a pavilion used by other groups.
