An academy trust is recruiting for the headteacher who will oversee the opening of a new primary school near Norwich.

A job advert has been posted for the headteacher designate of the new White House Farm Primary Academy, which will be run by Reach2 and based on land to the south of Mallard Way on White House Farm in Sprowston.

The start date is listed as January 2019, with a salary of between £59,000 and £69,000.

The advert says: 'We are looking for a passionate and inspiring leader who is self-motivated and keen to be involved from the very start, setting up a new school.

'You'll be talking to potential new parents as well as recruiting great teachers and other school staff.'

A planning application for the 420-place school is yet to be approved, though consultations with affected parties have taken place.

Planning documents on Norfolk County Council's website show concerns were raised by Sprowston Town Council, including over limited space for non-classroom based activities and insufficient parking spaces.

They said a drive-through drop off and pick up facility would be beneficial, to avoid the 'inevitable and constant issues of parking around schools', and suggested contacting the nearby Tesco to see if they would allow parents to park there and walk to school.

Archaeological digs are due to take place on the site this month, after planners found the site lays in 'the former extent of Mousehold Heath'.

They said a 'linear cropmark of possible prehistoric date' had been found in the north-west of the site, along with a possible Roman road which crosses the site.

'Widespread, if sparse, evidence of prehistoric and medieval activity has also been recorded within former areas of Mousehold Heath by recent archaeological work associated with construction of the Northern Distributor Road,' they say.

An email in the documents said the archeological work was planned to start on site in early June.

The school is due to open in September 2019.

Though plans are in their infancy, the need for a new secondary school has also been identified, with the Sprowston Park and Ride site put forward as a possible site.
