The Limes Primary Academy, which is being built in Oulton, near Lowestoft, is due to open in the Autumn.

It will be run by the REAch2 Academy Trust and will initially offer 60 places in Reception with a capacity to eventually accommodate 420 children.

The school comprises a mix of single and two storey interlinked blocks as well as a dedicated pre-school offering 30 places to the local community.

Representatives from the architect and project manager, Concertus Design and Property Consultants, and the main contractor, Barnes Construction, were on hand to issue the young visitors with their own special hi-vis vests and hard hats during the recent tour of the site. They then showed them and their carers around the school, which is now in the fit out stage where all the internal work is being carried out.

Headteacher Kate Cracknell said: 'The academy has been designed so it can be used by the local community outside the school day. We are very pleased with how the building work is progressing and the children were especially excited to take a trip around their new school.

'The Limes Primary Academy will offer exceptional opportunities for learning for everyone in a building which we hope will become the central hub of the community.'

James Reeder, Suffolk county councillor for Oulton and cabinet member for health, said: 'It's great to see that the school building, which is now entering its final stages, provides an attractive focal point within the local housing development at Woods Meadow.

'There is no doubt that when completed this will be an exciting development for Oulton, providing much-needed additional school places to the area.'
