Police have said that armed officers spotted in Hethersett are on a training exercise.

Members of public reported seeing a number of police officers along Cann's Lane this afternoon.

But a police spokesman has assured people that they are carrying out training in the back of the village's vacant fire station.

The spokesman added: 'It is not in use any more and we have access to it, so we try and make the most out of empty buildings.'

It is understood that the training is due to only take place today.
