Children at Drayton community infant school celebrated the play areas by dressing as pirates. Karen Winter, head teacher, said that each class had the opportunity to explore the equipment with their friends.

'We are delighted that so many children have joined in with this special day to celebrate their new outdoor play equipment and we look forward to the children having many happy memories in the years to come,' Ms Winter said. 'Also many thanks to the parents for all their support.'

The school had raised some of the funds for the new project, designed and created by Tom Carrington Garden Design, from the Tesco Community Awards and also from the Friends of Drayton community school group.

Emmy Byrne, chair of the group, said she was 'very pleased that the fundraising has seen such a positive outcome for the children to enjoy'.
