Outstanding students have been honoured for their great achievements at City College Norwich's ninth annual Further Education Awards.
Last night's awards at the Assembly House recognised 20 exceptional students from the college which last year had more than 7,000 students studying further education courses.
Corrienne Peasgood, City College principal, said: 'These awards provide an opportunity to publicly recognise and celebrate some of our most outstanding students and their successes at City College Norwich.
'All of our award winners have excelled during their time in further education, whether that be through demonstrating excellence in vocational skills, outstanding academic achievement, overcoming significant challenges or for their all-round contribution to the college community.'
Hao Chen Zhu, 22, from Diss, received the Governors' Award for Outstanding Student Achievement.
Hao Chen, who only spoke limited English when he arrived in Norfolk from China, has achieved GCSEs and four A-levels, and secured a place to study biochemistry at the University of York.
Beauty therapy student Kelly Smith, 18, from Bowthorpe Road, Norwich, won Outstanding Achievement in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.
Kelly, who now works at Debenhams and Bannatynes Spa in Norwich, represented the college in the beauty therapy WorldSkills UK regional heats.
She is now in the running to compete at WorldSkills 2015 in Brazil.
Fashion and clothing diploma student Jazmin Balfour won the StartUp Lounge Award for Student Entrepreneur of the Year after she used her time at college to develop not only her practical skills in fashion design, but also set up her business Aart and Lola.
It specialises in men's neckwear and accessories.
Engineering student Daniel Browne, 20, from Hellesdon, won the Outstanding Effort in Engineering Award. The prize was given in recognition of his great commitment to his courses, and also because he made a significant contribution to his local community.
Other students presented with awards were: Jessica Storey, Aaron Smith, Edison Xhediku, Caroline Gould, Allen Kemp, Esaya Ngandu, Jacob Bloomfield, Max Knaapen, Muhammed Ozsoy, Harry Crysell, Jasmine Proctor, Maike Gerdes, Jasmine Daze, Fatima Harrigan, Jack Thompson and Carl Meadows.
