Paul Fieldsend-Danks, NUA's MA leader, said: 'The MA Degree Show has moved into NUA's Guntons building this year and the space has leant itself to the creation of a show which truly reflects the diversity and ambition of the university's taught postgraduate students.

'There is a fascinating array of creative works being produced by our postgraduate community and the show presents the public with an opportunity to come and be inspired by its breadth and unique insight.'

Among the work is: a series of pictures of former military sites created by laser engraving applied to wood by Greg Thurling; a poster series of investigations of the structure of the grid by Redwan Elharrak; and Emma Smith's textile pattern designs inspired by the re-gentrified residential areas of the Norwich riverside development.

Kate Cooper has created a set of mixed media artefacts inspired by late 18th-century miniatures, while Joshua Carver is presenting his film Mary No More, which is partly inspired by Japanese cinema and tells a story of simultaneous coming-of-age and childhood regression.

MA Photography student James Bell, who presents a series of photographs of the bar owners, street vendors and hustlers of Barbados, said: 'The degree show is a great opportunity for MA students to showcase their visual practice to creative industry specialists and the wider public.'

MA Communication Design student Kate Peters added: 'For both the students and the university, the MA Degree Show is an opportunity to engage with business, arts practitioners, professional bodies and the public.

'I have enjoyed the experience, broadened my education and outlook, made friends, valued the quality and delivery of the teaching strategy and surprised myself with my own achievement.'

The MA Degree Show runs until Wednesday. It is open from 11am and closes at 7pm weekdays, 6pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday.

The show coincides with Afteryears: Reflections on British Art, a free exhibition of post-war British art curated by MA Curation students in NUA's The Gallery. This runs until September 13. Open 12pm-5pm Tuesday to Saturday.
