Students from across Norfolk can take part in a visit to one of the country’s centres of sporting excellence.

The English Institute Of Sport in Sheffield is the country’s largest multi-sports training centre.

A free trip to the centre has been organised by the Hewett Academy, in Norwich, on Tuesday, January 9.

It will include a tour of the facilities and two practical sessions, boxing and a sport science fitness testing.

It is open to all students looking to study at sixth form in September.

Principal Rebecca Handley-Kirk said: “We are looking forward to a fantastic day out that will give students a great taste of the range of our two-year BTEC Sport course.

“It is just one of the courses in our new BTEC Plus programme, which offers students an alternative to the traditional three A Levels.”

Places on the taster day can be booked by emailing and are offered on a first come, first served basis.
