The new science and engineering facility, built by local construction firm RG Carter, features lecture theatres, seminar rooms, laboratories and a collaboration space for staff, students and visitors.
To mark the milestone, the university's pro-vice chancellor (academic), Prof Neil Ward, and staff joined representatives from RG Carter and FBM Architects for the topping out on the roof of the building, where Mr Ward tightened the last bolt before signing the steel frame.
Prof Philip Gilmartin, pro-vice chancellor, science and international, said: 'This is a very exciting time for science and engineering here at UEA. This building represents a significant commitment to, and investment in, our mix of science and engineering degrees.'
'Over the past few months we have watched a level site rapidly develop into the shell of a building, which over the next few months will be fitted out with state-of-the-art learning and teaching facilities that will support current, and future generations of UEA students.'
The building is expected to be ready for the start of the 2019/20 academic year.
