A Norwich plumbing apprentice has reached the final of the HIP UK Heating Apprentice of the Year 2018.

Tony Iacovazzo, 20, previously completed a plumbing diploma with City College Norwich and works as an apprentice with Anglia Gas Services Ltd.

He will be putting his skills against seven other finalists at the ADEY Training and Confrence Centre in Cheltenham on April 25 and 26.

The overall winner will receive a cash prize of £1,000 and a share of £9,000 worth of plumbing equipment from the competition's sponsors.

Mr Iacovazzo earned his place in the final after coming out on top in his regional heat. He said: 'I was quite surprised to have won the regional heat. I am very glad that I've done it and I am looking forward to the next stage. If you win you can get lots of plumbing-based tools, so that's an added motivation to win it.'
